Responsibilities include:
- Greeting the children and families and assisting the transition from home to the childcare setting
- Direct care tasks such as diapering, toileting, hand washing, and feeding
- Establishing good communication with families through informal discussions
- Responding sensitively to the interests, requests, and needs of each individual child
- Using positive behavior guidance strategies to promote pro-social behavior
- Encouraging the development of emerging self-help skills
- Actively engaging in children's activities
- Assisting in the maintenance of an organized and clean classroom
The associate teacher helps to create a warm, caring, and safe environment to support children and teachers in ways that improve the overall quality of care. This candidate must have an understanding of children’s cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development and behave in a manner which reflects the philosophy of Little Sprouts Children’s Center.
