Multiple Contracts to Further Support Child Care System in New Hampshire $15.5M Approved for Child Care Sector

The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is partnering with business consultant SEED Collective to help licensed and license-exempt child care providers across New Hampshire enhance their operational efficiency and financial capacity to increase access to quality child care. Grants are made possible through funding from the American Rescue Plan Act Discretionary (ARPA-D) funds, administered by DHHS, to address areas of critical need in the child care sector.

Child care is an essential service that strengthens the economic stability in communities across New Hampshire. The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has partnered with the Granite United Way to implement the Child Care Business and Employer Partnership Project (CCBEP), a one-year research project designed to better understand the impact of family-friendly workplace policies on child care workforce recruitment and retention. Granite United Way will support the needs of businesses, employers, and working families by building partnerships and supporting initiatives that allow working parents and caregivers to enter or remain in the workforce, achieve economic stability, and contribute to New Hampshire’s economy.

The GSQ Capacity Building project supports capacity development of NH’s Quality Recognition Improvement System (QRIS), Granite Steps for Quality (GSQ), in order to engage and support programs in their continuous quality improvement (CQI) efforts and increase opportunities for early childhood and out-of-school time professionals to participate in CQI.
